The Dates and Details of Our Social Events.

Working party.

Our fantastic members certainly came up trumps today coming out in force to prepare the grounds for the coming season.

Opening the grounds is no mean feat as not only do we clean all the patio and furniture, the pathways round the green are scraped to remove the weeds, all the gulleys are swept and the mats cleaned and replaced into the gulleys.

But because we have the most brilliant members this is all done with humour (mostly) and the grounds are now looking wonderful and ready to welcome all our bowlers.

So, on behalf of our committee we thank you all and look forward to seeing you throughout the coming season.

Tidying up the bank.

What a difference a bit of hard work and time can make.

A couple of years ago the bank was a complete mess with only the weeds and thistles growing.

But now with the bushes all growing in strength and constant pruning it looks amazing. Dave, John G and Chris K have also spent a couple of days laying an artificial green over the membrane and the result is terrific.

So, many thanks to them, because this should last for a few years now and is a joy to look at. You can click the photo to see it larger.

Macmillan Coffee Morning...

We will be holding a Charity Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday 3rd October, in the Clubhouse. Everybody is welcome to join us and help support this very worthwhile charity.

2026	Main Social Events


New Year's Eve Party	. Wednesday 31st December 2025 What a great night ! It is a pity that it is almost impossible to take some photos of the event but it is decorated to look like a disco with special lighting and candles so the pics come out almost black. But we had a ball. Ron and Dave excelled this year with our firework display (we wont mention a tiny mishap but luckily no one was in the line of fire). With John G on DJ duty we had a full dance floor. Massive celebrations at midnight with Sweet Caroline almost taking the roof off. You cannot beat a DP party. Organiser: Janet

Dorset Bowls Resort	. 2nd-6th February The Dorset Bowls resort offers 3 indoor rinks and excellent accommodation. We all had a great time. There are some photos in the photo gallery and you can read Janet's review of the week by clicking HERE Organiser: Janet

Deane Park Fun Day	. Saturday 25th July Deane Park Fun Day - The theme for the day will be: All the Fun of the Fair This year's Fun Day theme was followed by all our members as you will see in the photos. Mr.and Mrs.Competition	. Friday 4th September Deane Park Mr and Mrs Competition: 18 couples took part. This was a new venture for us today having a Mr and Mrs Comp on the bowls green. Halloween Party	. 31st October Our new themed party night for Deane Park. Details to follow. Organiser: Janet

Annual Awards Dinner	. Thursday 19th November. Our annual awards dinner will again be at Sudbury Golf Club. 6:30pm for 7:00pm Please let Sue King know your menu choice. Organiser:

Christmas Party	. Friday 4th December. Our Christmas Party will be held earlier in the month this year. Organiser:

Dorset Bowls Resort	. 1st-5th February 2027 The Dorset Bowls resort offers 3 indoor rinks and excellent accommodation. Includes Bed, Breakfast, Dinner and rink fees. As you all know we have been here many times and it really is great value and we always have a fabulous time. Organiser: Janet
